Edith McClelland Dip.USWA WCSI The ocean and the tides, their incessant movement and power, are a life-long obsession. I’m happiest whilst out with a sketchbook, art materials and camera, especially during stormy weather along our stunning coastlines. As a self-taught artist, I’ve experimented with many different mediums over the years yet always return to watercolour ~ it is unpredictable yet compelling and suits my preferred method of working. The process of building numerous layers of transparent colour to ‘capture light’ is a constant learning process, and one I find particularly fascinating. Although I am primarily drawn to waterscapes, I also enjoy capturing many other aspects of the landscape, portraiture, still life, flora and fauna. Almost twenty years ago I made the move from amateur to professional, now painting mainly to commission, and have found teaching to be most rewarding along the way. https://www.edithmcclelland.com https://irishartistathome.blogspot.com/
