Helen graduated in 1987 with an Hons Dip in Fine Art & Hons Dip in Art & Design Education from WIT & Crawford Art College, Cork. She resigned from teaching as head of the art dept. in 2004 to become a professional artist. She is a sculptor & painters. She works with resin & steel. In 2018 she introduced bronze to her repertoire. She is a regular contributor to the RUA & has won various awards such as: The Elizabeth Morrow Award 2019 for original & innovative art, USWA The Mill Cove Gallery Award for a sculpture of distinction, Sculpture in Context 2018 in Dublin The Cosgrove Award, Cairde Visual 2017, Sligo She acquired Artist Exemption status 2019 She is represented by the following galleries: Gormleys Fine Art Gallery, Dublin & Belfast Ross Fine Art, Ramelton, Donegal The Velvet Easel, Edinburgh Scotland She exhibits regularly in a select number of exhibitions annually throughout the Island of Ireland As an artist who has face blindness she is driven by emotional reaction to self identity. How we see ourselves. How our environment imprints itself upon us, be it our family home, country of origin or the land that surrounds us. She lives & works on the tip of the Hook Head Peninsula & has seen first hand how the ocean, gales & driving rain pounds & reshapes our coastal rock.
