Jean Jing has a talent in art, though she was educated up to a post-graduated level in science both in China and the UK. When Jean was a teenager, she was tutored the traditional Chinese painting by an accomplished Chinese artist, Lu Yuan-ding, whose master was the well-known Chinese artist, Zhang Da-qian. One of her art works was selected to an annual art exhibition in Shanghai. After working as a research scientist, computer technician and database programmer in Shanghai, Cambridge, Sheffield and Belfast, she retired in 2014 and rekindled her interest in painting. Jean is a member of USWA, UWS, Drumbeg Arts Club and is active in art societies in Shanghai. Her work is watercolour based, mainly Chinese ink painting on rice paper. Her passion for art drives her desire to reach a professional standard by combining both Eastern and Western painting styles. She also hopes to influence and encourage the others to paint and enjoys sharing her skills.
